The first of the two reviews slated for 2013 was conducted July 4, 2013 at SANRI Conference Room, URS Tanay Campus.
In this part of the review, the RDEP was able to subject four research papers and five for extension and none for production.
At the end of the review the following received the awards:
Research Category: First Place - “Effects of the Land Cover on the Flood Regime of the River Basin in Tanay, Rizal Philip-pines” (Dr. Romeo C. Pati); Second Place - “Assessment of the Forest Flora of the University of Rizal System, Tanay, Rizal, Philippines: Input to Conservation and Management Program” (Prof. Fe Esperan-za T. Mateo, Prof. Jerry C. Esperanza, Dr Namerod F. Mateo, and For. Arnold T. Guiyab); Third Place - “Feeding Value of Trichantera (Trichantera gigantean) for Philippines Native Pigs” (Dr Virgie N. Callo-Etis, Dr Florie B. Gapido, and Prof. Camilo V. Marquez)
Extension Category: First Place - KAYAKAPP (Kapwa ay Yamang Kaagapay sa Pagtataguyod ng Parokya) – Dr. Marites M. Rio, Dr Leo C. Rio, Prof. Nestor C. Vallestero, Prof. Virginia T. URS and the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) based in College, Los Banos, La-guna entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on July 1, 2013 for an Institutional Cooperation to pursue common education, train-ing, and research objectives in agriculture. As an initial engagement, SEARCA has tapped the services of 17 URS faculty researchers as Data Processing Supervisor (1), Encoder (1) and Enumerators (15) of the SEARCA’s Project Development and Management Department (ProDev) for the ADB funded project” TA 8111 PHI Climate Resilience and Green Growth in the Upper Marikina River Basin Protected Landscape: Demon-strating the Eco-town Framework. Field data gathering among household respondents in Barangays of Rodriguez, San Mateo, Antipolo City, Tanay, and Baras. The data processing was done for a period of 3 weeks (June 20, 2013 – July 5, 2013). — NFMateo
